POSITION TITLE: Payroll Specialist

REPORTS TO: Accounting Manager

POSITION SUMMARY:

Perform a variety of administrative tasks related to the maintenance and processing of payroll.

FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB

Essential Functions

Incorporate safety and environmental responsibility into daily action.
Incorporate positive interpersonal skills when communicating or interacting with customer, subcontractor, vendor, craft and Wyatt personnel.
Maintains payroll information by collecting, calculating, and entering data.
Update payroll records by entering changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, and job title and department transfers, new hire and termination information.
Determine payroll liabilities by calculating employee federal and state income and social security taxes and employer's social security, unemployment, and workers compensation payments.
Prepare reports by compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages.
Resolve payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.
Provides payroll information by answering questions and requests.
Maintains payroll operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes.
Maintains employee confidence and protects payroll operations by keeping information confidential.
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Marginal Functions

Perform additional assignments per the direction of the Senior Finance Manager.

Physical Activities: Physical activities commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job.

Sit for long periods; view computer monitor(s) for long periods of time; perform the majority of work requirements using a keyboard and mouse; verbally communicate; walk, stand.

Physical Demands: Physical demands commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job.

Reach for, handle, and manipulate objects. Use hands and arms to lift and carry objects weighing up to 20 pounds.

POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge:

High School Diploma or equivalent with some exposure to accounting principles.

Experience:

Entry level; some experience is helpful.

Machines, Tools, Equipment and Work Aids: (Which may be representative but not all inclusive of those commonly associated with this position.)

Computer hardware and software, including: Microsoft Office (Windows, Excel, Outlook, Word, Access, and PowerPoint); experience with construction software Viewpoint/VISTA or similar SQL Server based construction software. Ability to learn other software if required with company provided training.

License(s)/Certification(s) Required:

Valid state issued driver's license.
